Heron fall in season opener

Heron fall in season opener

Great Bay Men's and Women's Basketball is back after a two year hiatus. The Heron's opened their season last night at NHTI.

The Lady Heron's struggled early and had a tough time breaking through the Lynx full court press. NHTI jumped out to an early lead and the Lady Heron's were not able recover.  Madison Lovely led the Herons with a  game high 21 rebounds and was one point shy of a double-double with 9 points.

Between the Women's and Men's game, NHTI VP of Student Affairs and President of White Mountains Community College recognized NHTI Head Men's Basketball Coach Paul Hogan on his recent 600th win.  Congrats to Coach Hogan!

On the men's side, the Heron's hung tough early but the depth, experience and lights out shooting from behind the 3-point line propelled the Lynx in the 2nd half.  The Heron's were led by Jordan Williams, who had 17 points and 4 rebounds.  George Mortimer also played well for the Herons, with 14 points while also picking up two big charges on defensive.

The Heron's are back on the road this weekend with Hampshire on Saturday (1/3pm) and Paul Smith's College on Sunday (noon/2pm)

Go Herons!
