Volleyball Celebrates Senior night with Win against NHTI

The Herons picked up a big conference win against YSCC powerhouse NHTI, the only team that has bested the Herons this season.  Seniors, Noel and Ameila led the way while the Herons got solid performances from freshmen Kayleigh MacDougall, Emily Brashear and Ana Martinez.

Great Bay Volleyball Coaches, Erica Avery, Phebe Moore and Ivo Neylkov started the evening by recognizing the team and specifically the two Seniors, Noel Crooker and Amelia Sheedy on a fantastic career with the Herons.  The leadership and infinite commitment shown by Noel and Amelia has revolutionized the volleyball program at Great Bay. You are both an inspiration to the Great Bay Community. As coaches, it has been remarkable watching you grow together, as individuals and as a team. You have certainly left your mark in the hearts of your teammates, coaches, peers, teachers, and staff here at Great Bay Community College. You will most certainly be remembered and missed. It is difficult to wish you farewell on your next chapter, but you undoubtedly will make a difference in all that you aspire to accomplish. Best of luck to the both of you!

A few words from Herons Head Coach, Erica Avery about Noel and Amelia:

I would like to recognize senior captain Noel Crooker a Middle Blocker from New Castle, NH. Noel is a vital member to this volleyball program's success. Noel has surpassed the odds of being one of the shortest middles in this division but has nothing but dominated at the net winning countless duels! Noel has led the team to their current 7-1 conference record, notably the best record yet! Noel has a devotion to volleyball and will continue to thrive in this sport with whatever endeavors she embarks. It is with mixed emotions we say goodbye and wish you the best of luck!

Next, I would like to recognize senior Amelia Sheedy an outside hitter from Berwick, ME. She radiates positive energy which is contagious and crucial for the team's success. Amelia has stepped up with strategic game play and power behind the service line. She knows exactly where to place the ball and at the moment of imminent need. Her mindful game play, positive energy, and relentless hustle will truly be missed. It is difficult to say farewell, but we wish you all the best in all that you strive to be!
