Big Win for Volleyball Season Opener Against Unity

Great Bay Community College

The Great Bay Women's Volleyball team opened their season at home against Unity College. The team is composed of all new players except for one returning player; Noel Crooker from the 2017 season. Noel Crooker and Kayleigh McDougall as team captains did a phenomenal job leading the Herons to their first victory. The team seized the first two sets over unity 25-16 and 25-17. The third set the herons struggled to fight through and at the last minute had redemption; but it was sparked to late in the set. Great Bay refocused and worked together to fight through the transformations as new team. The lady Herons came out strong the fourth set closing out the match. The team ended up finishing the match 25-13 and winning 3-1 versus Unity College. Noel Crooker had ten kills, seven aces served, and two digs. Kianna Crooker had two fantastic solo blocks at the exact times the team needed them! Kayleigh McDougall had eleven kills and five aces. Amelia Sheedy had three kills and thirteen digs. Sarah Barrett as the freshmen setter had four kills, and a notable twenty-two assists. An honorable mention to the rest of the team for their hard work and diligence that flourished the court with talent. It was an all around prodigious team effort in closing their first home victory. Congratulations ladies and keep up the great work as we press on in our season!
