Great Bay Community College Herons Secure Gritty 49-46 Victory Over Hampshire College

Portsmouth, NH – The Great Bay Community College Herons delivered a solid performance on their home court, edging out Hampshire College 49-46 in a defensive battle on Sunday, February 2nd in a YSCC matchup. 

 

The game was a tale of momentum shifts, with Hampshire taking an early 15-9 lead after the first quarter. However, the Herons responded in the second quarter with a dominant 21-11 run, giving them a 30-26 advantage at halftime. The teams battled evenly through the second half, with each scoring 12 points in the third quarter and 8 in the fourth, but Great Bay maintained their edge to seal the win. Great Bay used a balance attack on both sides of the ball to grind out the win. 

 

Key Performers for Great Bay:

  • Sharon Hutapea led all Herons scorers with 17 points, shooting an impressive 7-for-10 from the field, including 2-for-3 from beyond the arc.
  • Isabella Raiti added 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists, showing her versatility on both ends of the floor.
  • Elizabeth Nicholson was a force on the boards, securing 19 rebounds while chipping in 6 points.
  • Jaiden Timmons-Williams contributed 6 points and 5 rebounds, helping maintain defensive pressure.
